The overall project goal is to support the implementation of reliable and sustainable water and wastewater infrastructure systems (WIS) with added value for smart cities. Because system planning has a large influence on system reliability and sustainability we decided to develop systematic planning methods and tools. We consider three levels of water and wastewater infrastructure systems (WIS): 1. conventional WIS (enables to benefit from successful approaches) 2.+3. advanced and smart WIS (integration of innovative and smart solutions). An overview about some work contents and questions we investigated as well as the 5 actions fields we are working on are summarized here under projects. The methodologies and tools were developed based on practical examples in India and Germany. After the development their application is proved and demonstrated in pilot studies. See also the ongoing work on the pilot cases.
